That they shouldn't be out here. Danica could tell by the sound that there were two maybe three teenage girls. She wasn't sure what they were doing, but being the the cemetary... they weren't up to any good. We'd better check this out...

Will's breathing became quicker. Normally, he stayed as far away from humans as possible and let them mind their own business. But this was strange, unordinary behavior. Laughing, in a cemetery? His pace quickened, and he glanced at Danica several times.

Danica tried to use her powers to calm the two of them down. They really didn't need the drama of loosing, let alone killing, a classmate. Danica stopped suddenly and knelt down behind a large headstone as they made their way along the edge of the cemetary. She pulled Will along down beside her. Just be quiet, she warned. There a few rows ahead were the girls, Marcia Hamilton, Candice Warner, and Elizabeth Matthews, each of them classmates, just as Danica had suspected. It was unclear exactly what they were doing, but it just didn't seem right.

Of course I'll be quiet, Will replied, rolling his eyes. He pursed his lips, staring at the girls. He had always been annoyed by human females. Well, not always. What the hell are they doing? he thought. Girls just don't do that. They stay away from cemeteries, away from such dangers... oh, but if they had known. Petty, petty humans. Empty-minded humans. The wind grew stronger, and he watched them laugh some more, their artificially pretty faces twisted in ugly smiles.

What are they doing? she wondered. It seemed that they were just standing there, laughing at something on the ground, but it was too hard to focus with the sound of their blood filling her ears. Their scent was far too tempting. The rich red liquid coursing through their purple arteries. Their heartbeats where like low bass chords and their running blood like harmony to her melody. Danica shook her head in frustration, trying to clear her thoughts. It only worked slightly because she could still feel the razer edges of her fangs. She growled; a low rumble in her chest.

Will could sense Danica's thirst. He was beginning to feel it too. The hand that he was using to grip the headstone quivered. What were they laughing about? Whatever it was, it was nothing funny. It was getting dark... if those girls didn't start running soon, they were in trouble.

Will looked at her, his face expressionless, and down at her hand covering his. He liked it there. There was a slight smile on his face, even through his thirst. He looked back at the girls.

Danica's smile was now completely sincere. Suddenly a new smell filled her nostrils; fresh blood. Her sense hightened. She looked back to the girls, her lips peeled back, taking in the smell. There on the ground, in the middle of the three, was another girl, her clothes soiled by dirt and her own blood. Danica growled. She had to help the girl. Wait here... Danica said as she stood up and gracefully glided away.

Will sighed. She got to do everything. He waited as patiently as possible, feeling terribly sorry for the wounded girl. Careful, he said mentally to Danica. He cracked his knuckles, waiting for her return.

Don't worry. I'll be fine, she promised. Danica quickly climbed up a tree and jumped through the branches until she was above the girls. She made odd noises, moving back and forth between the trees, trying to spook the girls. One by one the girls looked up with worried expressions. "Leave here," she growled. The girls screamed and ran, leaving the half-concious girl laying on the ground, alone and dying.

Go for it... It looks like I could use some help with this one, Danica replied as she dropped down out of the tree beside the girl. She scanned her over. Bruises and wounds covered her body, and that was only what she could see with the girl's close on. Danica could only hope it wasn't as bad underneath. There was a deep gash across the girl's forhead, which Danica quickly bound with a piece of cloth from the bottom of her shirt. She slipped her coat off and wrapped the girl up. We need to get her to the hospital. Hospitals... blood... lots of blood... human blood. This would be a task.

Will glided over next to Danica. He examined the human's wounds; they were severe. He thought of the hospital and the struggles it would require to transport the girl there. How are we going to do this? he thought, feeling a hint of hysteria.

"We'll leave her outside. We'll never have to go in..." she replied quietly, talking for the first time in awhile. Danica scooped the girl up in her arms and began walking towards town. "We'll have to be discreet, but the darkness should help."

Will sighed. He felt slightly guilty for not going in, but it was the only way they could safely help. He looked at the girl sorrowfully, with curly black hair that was extremely tangled, and a sprinkling of scattered freckles amongst the dirt on her face. Her mouth hung open slightly. Her pale lips bore several cuts that bled onto her chin. How did this happen? he wondered for the millionth time, as they drew closer to the hospital.

The hospital was only a matter of minutes away, but they still had to be extremely cautious. Will made sure that he kept up with Danica, but didn't get ahead of her. The sun had now completely set, and the air was colder, but he was anything but uncomfortable. In fact, the top two buttons of his shirt were undone.

Will's eyes widened, and he took one last look at the girl who they'd saved. "Goodbye. Goodluck," he whispered, then dashed off after Danica. He felt the wind blowing his hair, and as he caught up to her, he smiled.

Danica smiled in return. It wasn't until now that she finally realized just how cold it was outside and she had given the girl her coat. Atleast she was safe and would make it now.
Soon they were back at the house. Danica slowed her pace and walked up the stairs to the porch. She sat down on the swing on the porch with a sigh. She was still thinking about what those girls did. It was so terrible, but how did they have that much strength alone? They must have had something, a baseball bat, branch, something...

"I don't know, but it wasn't right at all. Something was missing. What was their motivation?" she asked, aiming the question more to herself than Will. She looked down at her hands in her lap, they were far too perfect, much more perfect than they were when she was human. Ah, when she was human. She couldn't say those times where nessicarily good, but atleast she was human, she had a begining and and end. Now all she had was a begining. It would be easy for a human to say that it would be great to be immortal, but that wasn't exactly the case. Danica sighed. She hated her life as it was.

"It was probably something... you know, petty. Humans get so wrapped up in revenge and blackmail... it's frustrating, and it can get out of hand." He tried to remember being like that when he was human. Did he get obsessed with tiny things that didn't matter? Probably. But he didn't remember it. He didn't quite understand the human way of thinking anymore. It had escaped from his memory. Now, he focused on more important things. But what were those things? And were they really more important, or did he simply think they were? Were they just the things that were important to him, and no one else?

But she was no longer human and she accepted that. Fate, she reminded her self over and over, has a way of working that's beyond all comprehention. She sighed and picked her head back up. She needed a new motivation in her life, a reason for living. But what it was, she had no idea what so ever. "Probably. Something extrememly petty. I remember being that age, but back then we didn't worry about such stuff. We were more worried that a bomb was going the fall from the sky and destroy are school. We didn't have to worry about the other girls trying to get rid of us."
